2. Common Data form Language file. An ASCII file format intended to facilitate the sharing of scientific data between different systems.

Also referred to as netCDF format, possibly because netCDF is a set of libraries that support the creation and use of Common Data (form) Language files.

3. CAD Advanced Design Language file. A file that contains CADL (CAD Advanced Design Language) programming source code. The .cdl file is a text editable file that contains CADL programming instructions, which needs to be run using an appropriate interpreter.
