Windows 95/98 Briefcase file.

Briefcase files were used by Windows 95 as part of the Briefcase function. The Briefcase was used to synchronise files between a computer and removable media (such as a floppy disk). The idea was to allow files to be "copied to the briefcase" which could then be taken to another computer and worked on there.

The briefcase was introduced in Windows 95 and still existed (although probably little used) in Windows XP.
