1. Microsoft Word document.

.doc files are Microsoft Word documents, containing word processed text which may consist of text, formatting, images, tables and embedded documents.

Microsoft Word up until Word 2007 saved documents as .doc files. From Word 2007 onwards, Microsoft has changed the format and now uses .docx files.

2. Word Perfect document.

Earlier versions of Word Perfect used the file extensions .wp, .wp7, .wp6, .wp5, .wp4 and .wpd.
