Extensible Storage Engine pre-init log file.

Microsoft's Extensible Storage Engine (ESE) uses the file extension .tmp.log to denote a temporary pre-init log file.

ESE pre-init log files might sometimes be given the file extension of .tmp.jtx instead of .tmp.log.
