- 1. Abbreviation for IDentifier. Normally something (typically a number or string) that will uniquely identify an object within a specific context. cf UID, GUID.
- 2. Abbreviation for IDentification.
- 3. Intelligent Design. A recognition that the design of some things has
an intelligent designer behind it and could not have arisen through
natural processes. Normally used to refer
to the intelligent design in the natural world, where it is acknowledged
that natural selection (or the notion of evolution)
cannot account for every observation.
It is important to recognise that whilst Intelligent Design provides logical and rational reasons why there must have been a creator, it does not make any claims as to who the creator is.
