Multihomed
- Multihomed
- Refers to a computer which is directly connected to two or more networks.
A typical example of a multihomed server would be a server with two network cards, with one network card connected to the internet and the other connected to a LAN. In such a configuration the computer could act as a gateway for the rest of the LAN.
Multihoming can cause network problems if there is any ambiguity over which network data packets should be sent.
