- Operating System Authentication
- 1. The process of an operating system authenticating a user prior to logon or prior to
connection. See also User Authentication.
- 2. The process of an application (such as a database) requesting confirmation from the
operating system to confirm that a user has been authenticated. This may also include the
retrieval of additional user information from the operating system (such as access
rights).
