SEO Tip 7: Images and alt text

Alt text is alternative text that a browser can show if it does not show the image. Alt text also provides a message that most browsers will show when the mouse is moved over the image.

• Be sure to use applicable alt text for all images (for some images it may be appropriate to have empty alt text).
• Use alt text as another opportunity to include keywords, but remember to keep the text meaningful. Remember also that web-bots cannot glean anything from an image, but they can and do read the alt text.
