The following sites provide some facility for free banner design.

- Free on-line logo and button creation. The site describes itself as a free graphics generator for web pages where you need an impressive logo without a lot of design work.
- www.flamingtext.com
- Not a banner creation site as such, this site allows you to create free graphics of text images that incorporate special effects such as glowing or burning text.
- AdDesigner.com
- Free service allowing you to create (on-line) banner ads for your site. The site requires that you register for an account before you can create a banner ad, but this process is free.
- www.animationonline.com
- Free online animated button and banner creation service. The site has a limited number of templates to choose from, but all the templates are animated.
- www.coder.com/creations/banner/banner-form.pl.cgi
- Free service for creating graphical banners.
- www.crecon.com/newbanners.html
- Provides both a free and paid banner creation service.
Banner Sizes
There are fourteen standard sizes for banner ads. If you are designing your own banner ads then it would be advisable to stick to one of the standard sizes:

Banner Advertising Networks
There are a large number of banner advertising (or exchange) networks - the idea is simply that if you display banners for other sites then those sites will display a banner for your network. The following is just a sample:

- Your banner will be displayed on another site once for every two times a banner is shown on your site. They also operate a referral system.
- www.bannerexchange.net
- English language, family friendly sites only. 2:1 exchange ratio. Supports five popular banner sizes (468x60, 728x90, 125x125, 160x600, 300x250). Includes a referral system, ad statistics, and other useful features.
